A Durban man has died following a shooting incident in the suburb of Reservoir Hills on Saturday.

Rescue Care spokesman Garrith Jamieson said paramedics deployed to the scene found that the man had suffered a gunshot wound to his chest.

It appears the man was a victim of a hijacking.

"Advanced life support paramedics performed resuscitation efforts for a period of time but unfortunately the man succumbed to his injuries," said Jamieson.

He said police were investigating the incident.
