Energy minister Jeff Radebe is embroiled in a mystery $1bn oil deal in war-ravaged South Sudan that does not have the nod of the entity meant to handle the project.

Meanwhile a team of six experts appointed by Radebe have already incurred a travel bill of almost R20m, including the hire of a private jet.
