Two men were killed and a third wounded during a shooting on Sunday night in Bruma, Johannesburg, paramedics have said.

"Reports from the scene indicate that three adult males were shot in what was alleged to be linked to taxi violence," said Netcare911's Shawn Herbst.

Two of the men "had sustained fatal injuries and were declared deceased on the scene", he said.

The third man "sustained a gunshot wound to the lower limb and was treated on scene. Once stabilised the patient was transported by ambulance to hospital for further treatment."

The incident took place on the M22 Allum Road at about 7:40pm on Sunday.

Police were on the scene and are investigating the circumstances, said Herbst.
