A KwaZulu-Natal woman was found shot and bleeding in her car outside a clinic in Verulam, north of Durban, on Wednesday.

According to security company Reaction Unit, the 27-year-old woman, believed to be a nurse, was rushed to a local hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

"At approximately 7.13am the Reaction Unit SA Verulam operations centre received a call from a member of public reporting a woman lying in her vehicle at the entrance of the Oakford clinic," said Reaction Unit's Prem Balram.

Reaction Unit said that the woman had suffered gunshot wounds to her head and hand.
