Jockey airlifted to hospital after being kicked in the head by horse

A jockey was seriously hurt after being kicked in the head by his horse at an equestrian facility in Pretoria, paramedics said on Friday.

Netcare911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst said paramedics responded to the incident in Centurion on Thursday.  

Herbst said reports indicated that the 26-year-old man fell off the horse and then the horse kicked him in the head.

He said the man sustained serious head injuries.

He was airlifted to hospital by a helicopter ambulance.
