A fire ripped through a Durban informal settlement on Friday, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

A fire ripped through a Durban informal settlement on Friday, leaving a trail of destruction.

Robert McKenzie, spokesperson for KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Medical Services, said about 50 shacks were destroyed in the Mayville area.

"Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze. Paramedics were also on the scene, fortunately nobody was injured," he said.
