A watchdog that challenged the environmental affairs ministry in court over the government’s plan “to weaken air pollution standards” has won a key battle.

But while hailing Nomvula Mokonyane’s decision to go back on her predecessor’s decision to raise the sulphur dioxide emission limit from 500mg to 1,000mg, groundWork and its partners vow to continue the fight.
