Paul Mojaki stands in the shadow of the house his parents built on Waterval Farm near Alberton, Gauteng, watching a mammoth housing development rise around them.

The Sky City development is an unlikely harbinger for Mojaki’s family and nearly 50 others, who face eviction to make way for a burgeoning modern housing estate.
