Suburb blows fuse as students ‘turn it into slum’

Westdene and Sophiatown residents in Johannesburg are infuriated by the mushrooming of student accommodation close to their properties, claiming the students are turning their suburb into a shantytown.

But while they worry about property value, a town planner thinks this is an overreaction.
