It is unclear whether trade unionist Dr Neil Aggett was aware that when he was arrested in 1981, it was because he had been listed by anti-apartheid activist Barbara Hogan as a “close comrade”.

Now, at the inquest into his death, the ex-minister explains how the trade unionist’s name was included among those the ANC wanted to ‘protect’.
