Thousands of South Africans travelling to Mecca have been barred from entering Saudi Arabia for one of Islam’s most religious pilgrimages over fears of the spread of the deadly novel coronavirus.

The ban on all foreigners travelling to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Umrah comes just months before the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
