1 575 new cases identified 

The cumulative number of tests conducted to date is 4 407 441 with 19 270 new tests conducted today.

Regrettably, we report 107 more Covid-19 related deaths: 58 from Eastern Cape, 38 from the Free State, 4 from KwaZulu Natal, 6 from Gauteng, and 1 from Western Cape.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 related deaths to 17 780. Of the 107 deaths reported, 4 occurred in the past 24-48 hours:, 1 in Gauteng, 2 in KwaZulu Natal and 1 in the Western Cape.

Our recoveries now stand at 623 765 which translates to a recovery rate of 90%

Malaysia reports 561 new coronavirus cases, 2 more deaths

Malaysia reported 561 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, the bulk of them in Sabah state which has already seen a large increase in infections over the past few weeks.

The new cases raise Malaysia's cumulative tally to 15,657 cases, according to the health ministry. There were two new deaths reported, raising the fatality toll to 157.

UK PM will outline rules on travel in England on Monday, says minister

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will outline rules on travel between different parts of England on Monday, his housing minister Robert Jenrick said on Sunday, repeating that there would be no national lockdown to tackle the coronavirus crisis.

Asked whether the new measures due on Monday would include rules on travel between parts of England, Jenrick told Times Radio: "The rules and guidelines the prime minister will set out tomorrow will explain how we will treat travel between different places ... but we've always been clear that essential travel for work, for education, for important life events needs to be preserved whenever we can do."

On a short national lockdown he said: "We have got absolutely no plan to do that."

Russia reports fresh daily record of new coronavirus cases

Russia on Sunday reported 13,634 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, a new daily record that brought its nationwide tally to 1,298,718.

The country's coronavirus taskforce said that 149 people had died overnight, pushing the death toll to 22,597.

Russia, which has a total population of around 145 million, has recorded the fourth highest number of infections in the world since the start of the pandemic.

Worldwide coronavirus cases cross 37.23 million, death toll at 1,072,379

More than 37.23 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally and 1,072,379​ have died, according to a Reuters tally.

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.

India's coronavirus infections cross 7 million

India's coronavirus case tally topped 7 million after it reported 74,383 new infections in the last 24 hours, data from the health ministry showed on Sunday, even as the spread moderated in western states such as Maharashtra.

Deaths from COVID-19 rose by 918 in the last 24 hours to 108,334, the ministry said.

India added a million cases in just 13 days, according to a Reuters tally of government data, and it has the second-highest number of infections, behind the United States which is approaching the 8 million mark.

Brazil surpasses 150,000 coronavirus deaths, health ministry says

Brazil registered 559 additional coronavirus deaths over the last 24 hours and 26,749 new cases, the nation's Health Ministry said on Saturday.

The South American country has now registered 5,082,637 total confirmed coronavirus cases and 150,198 total deaths.
