Unclaimed retirement savings are swelling into the billions: Here’s how to check if you have money to claim

Almost R45bn in pension fund savings and benefits have gone unclaimed, with the public urged to contact the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FCSA) to see if they have money owed to them.

According to the authority’s report, the total amount of unclaimed pension funds in SA has been sitting at R44.9bn since the end of 2019.

There are six ways to check whether you have unclaimed benefits or savings:

CHECK ONLINE

The easiest would be to check the database of unclaimed benefits on the FSCA website

SEND AN E-MAIL

Send an email with your ID number to Pensions.UBmemberID@FSCA.co.za or Pensions.UBQuery@FSCA.co.za

SEND AN SMS

Send an SMS with your ID number to 30913 or 30766.

SEND A FAX

Send a fax with your ID number to 086 578 1183.

MAKE A CALL

Call 0800 20 3722 toll-free.

VISIT THE FSCA
