Tshwane worried as active Covid-19 cases reach 1,600
The number of active Covid-19 cases in the city of Tshwane has risen sharply to 1,600, with a cluster outbreak at the Tshwane University of Technology's Pretoria West campus particularly worrying.
“Other areas of concern with increased infections include Hatfield, Atteridgeville, Mamelodi East, Centurion and Soshanguve,” city spokesperson Sipho Stuurman said.
The latest Covid-19 report, on Monday morning, puts active cases at 1,689. Last week on Monday, the number of active cases was 362.

Gauteng accounts for nearly 80% of SA's 239 new Covid-19 cases as NICD warns of 'sustained increase' in cases
Gauteng accounted for nearly 80% of SA's new Covid-19 cases, the latest data from the National Institute for Communicable Diseases showed.
There were 312 new infections recorded across SA in the past 24 hours, the NICD said on Monday. Of these, 239 (77%) were in Gauteng. Only the Western Cape (16 cases), KwaZulu-Natal (15) and Mpumalanga (10) recorded new cases in double figures.

687 new Covid-19 cases detected as infections rise in Gauteng
Another 687 new Covid-19 cases have been identified in SA, the National Institute for Communicable Diseases reported on Sunday evening.
This increase represents a 3.4% positivity rate.
Two deaths related to the coronavirus were recorded by the health department, bringing total fatalities to 89,574.

Gauteng residents vaccinated with the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine don’t have to return to the same vaccination site for a second dose because this can be administered anywhere in the province.
The health department on Sunday reminded residents to get their second dose of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine for full protection.
“Get your second dose to be fully vaccinated. You can get your second jab at any vaccination site in Gauteng. You do not need to return to the site where you received your first dose,” said the department.
