Pilot Felix Baumgartner of Austria will jump from the edge of space in an attempt to break four records that have stood for over half a century.

Baumgartner will attempt a stratospheric balloon flight to 120,000 ft and jump out, in the process attempting to break records for the highest manned balloon flight, the longest freefall duration and the highest skydive.
He says the core objective is to push the limits of human endurance, explore the edge of space and deliver insights for science and education.
Felix Baumgartner is one of the world’s leading BASE jumpers having leapt off the likes of the Taipei World Financial Centre, and the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio De Janeiro, as well as becoming the first person to free-fall across the English Channel using just a carbon wing in 2003.
