Two Russian climbers have died from altitude sickness in the Everest region, police in Nepal said Thursday.
"They were part of a nine-member group climbing Mount Amadablam," said Bhanubhakta Nepal, a police officer based in Solukhumbu district. He said Victor Igolkin, 47, had died on Tuesday evening and his friend Pavel Ivanovskiyko, 63, had died early Wednesday.
"They were going up from Camp Two to Camp Three when they fell sick," he said.
Their bodies were airlifted to Kathmandu. A Slovakian tourist has also been missing in the Everest region since April 21. Tamas Princzkel, 28, a Hungarian-speaking Slovakian citizen, went missing in Dingboche, where he was traveling alone.
Police said they were still looking for him.
