A man from Alabama has sued a hospital after they mistakenly amputated his penis instead of giving him a circumcision.

Jonny Lee Banks filed a law suit against the Princeton Baptist Medical Centre in Birmingham, Alabama for removing his penis in June instead of giving him a circumcision, according to Buzzfeed.

Banks said that he was not warned of a possible amputation and that he did not give his consent for that procedure.

John Graves, Banks’ attorney, said that his client “is devastated.” Bank’s wife Zelda is also suing for a loss of consortium due to the operation. He is suing for an unspecified amount.

The hospital spokes Kate DeWitt Darden said the allegations had no merit. “We intend to defend all counts aggressively.”
