A woman gave birth to her son four hours after she discovered she was pregnant.

Sophie Bird visited doctors numerous times in the lead up to giving birth complaining of nausea, stomach aches and indigestion, but none of them realised that she was in fact pregnant. Her 133kg frame had hidden her baby bump for 38 weeks, reported Mail Online.

On visiting the hospital again complaining of stomach aches, a test confirmed that she was expecting. In fact she was already in labour and was 4cm dilated.

"I was so fat I didn't realise I was 38 weeks pregnant." This came as a surprise as Bird said she was using contraceptives at the time.

“I was on the pill, and as a child I had been diagnosed with polycystic ovaries- they told me I’d need help to conceive, so it never dawned on me that I could be pregnant,” she said.

Four hours later she was holding her son Rowan. Since giving birth Bird has lost 50kg.
