Russian author Lena Lenina killed her kitten by dying its fur for a 'pretty in pink' party according to reports.

Witnesses at the party told media that the kitten had been hysterical, trying to get away from the woman the whole evening according to the UK's Metro.

After the party she lost interest in the cat, allowing it to try and lick the dye off itself.

Lenina rejected criticism for her treatment of the cat, saying, "The pink colour was especially chosen for its healing properties and also strengthens the cat’s hair. My vet told me it was a beneficial addition to him."

After the party another vet examined the cat, only to find that the dye was indeed toxic.

A petition has been launched to call for the local police to investigate the case of animal cruelty.

So far it has several thousand signatures.
