Is this alibi credible? Eight police officers were dismissed after they all claimed 540kg of missing marijuana evidence had been eaten by mice.

The discovery was made during an inspection of the police warehouse in Pilar, Argentina, reported The Guardian.

The city's former police commissioner Javier Specia was asked to explain the missing stash and he proceeded to tell Judge Adrián González Charvay that the storage facility had been raided by mice. His fellow officers told the same story, which ultimately got them fired.

Adding to the cloud of suspicion, experts at Buenos Aires University said, "mice wouldn't mistake the drug for food" and even if they did, "a lot of corpses would have been found in the warehouse", reported BBC News.

The eight officers are scheduled to testify in front of the judge on May 4.
