A police dash camera caught the moment a house in Texas exploded after a car drove into the front of the property.

The footage shows police officers responding to reports of the accident in the town of Hurst on April 7. In the video, officers can be seen walking towards the driver of the vehicle when a fiery explosion engulfed the property.

At the time of the explosion a husband and wife were still inside the house with their adult son, Hurst Police Department said in a statement.

Officers ran to the back of the house and found the wife severely injured and buried amid the rubble. They pulled her to safety and ensured the husband and son were moved away from the house.

Corporal Ryan Tooker told Fox News that as soon as he made it into the backyard he could see the walls were blown out of the house. "I could actually see all the way through the house," Tooker said.

The three people, along with two officers who received minor injuries, were taken to hospital to be treated.

"The mother and father were reported to have serious burn injuries and are still under hospital care. The son was treated and released for less serious injuries," the department said.

The driver of the vehicle that collided with the house was unhurt, and he was arrested for traffic offences.
