Top DJ Avicii dead at 28
Avicii, one of the world's most successful DJs, was found dead in Oman on Friday, his representatives have confirmed.
"It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii," read a statement from his team.
"He was found dead in Muscat, Oman, this Friday afternoon local time, April 20. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given."
While details of his death remain unknown, the musician has struggled with addiction in the past and was admitted to hospital twice for alcohol-related issues.
He was nominated for two Grammys for best dance recording, in 2011 and 2012.
Avicii retired from live performances in 2016. Prior to that, he was named as one of the most frequently performing DJs in the world.
