Johnson was quick to respond, thanked Katie for the invite, and explained he couldn't attend because he was shooting a movie in Hawaii, reported USA TODAY.
I absolutely love everything about this. Including this lovely young lady, Katie. Unfortunately, I’ll be shooting my next film on 5/5, but I have a personal video response I will tweet you later on today. Stay tuned Katie ❤️ https://t.co/I4xdy0EP70

But this is not where the conversation ended...
The Rock was clearly in a giving mood as he surprised his fans by booking out two theaters in LA thanking fans for making RAMPAGE the number one movie at the box office.
"Katie, I'm sure you are soooooo embarrassed right now, but I just had to let you know how cool and awesome you are for inviting me to your prom," he said.
So he set up the surprise of a lifetime for Katie, his response was played over the school's intercom system.
"Because we are now best friends, and I have so much love for you because you're so awesome, I have a special gift. I've rented out a theater, the gift is this, grab all your favorite friends and closest family members and whoever you want to bring, because I'm showing you a screening of my new movie, Rampage... and all the popcorn and candy and soda you can drink, cause it's all on me."
I’ll take happy 😭 tears all day.

Here’s the vid from this morning of me surprising @katiekelzenberg over the school’s intercom. Her reaction when I say her name is priceless.
I bought out her local theater this weekend so she & her BFF’s can watch RAMPAGE. #StillwaterHigh🤙🏾 pic.twitter.com/P24M5RuiWt
“I couldn’t believe it. I was so surprised,” Kelzenberg said. “I just kept thinking, ‘He saw me! He knows who I am!’” reported the Washington Post.
As promised I surprised two sold out theaters in LA to show the fans my gratitude and love for making RAMPAGE the #1 MOVIE IN THE WORLD (including the US). We had a blast!! Love y’all worldwide and enjoy the fun ride that’s RAMPAGE!
