A paddle boarder in Australia had a surprise encounter with a dolphin when it leaped out of the water and 'body checked' him.

A pod of dolphins were riding a wave off the coast of Gracetown when the surprising encounter took place last week, according to Seven News Sydney.

In the footage, Andrew Hill can be seen paddling along when a pod of dolphins sped toward him. One of the dolphins leaps out of the air and slams into his back, sending him crashing into the sea.

“It was a fairly legal hit in the shoulder I think… Hats off to him he connected with me really well,” Hill told 7 News Sydney.
