WATCH | Japanese runner crawls to the finish line after leg fracture

A video of a Japanese woman who crawled to the end of a relay race after fracturing her leg has gone viral.

Nineteen-year-old Rei Iida was praised by many on social media for her bravery as she gradually crawled with her bloody knees as she approached her partner during the race.

Iida was participating  in the Princess Ekiden race in Japan on October 22. Three weeks later the runner's video has caught the attention of social media users. 

According to the Telegraph the runner fractured her right leg during her 3,5km run of the 41km race and had to crawl for over 200 meters to reach her teammate. 

There was mixed reaction on Twitter, with some applauding Iida while other's said she should have received medical attention.
