A six-year-old girl with incurable cancer has won the hearts of many after a video of her being sworn in as an honorary police officer went viral.

Abigail Arias fulfilled her dream of becoming a police officer after fighting her disease for two years. She was sworn in as an honorary officer for the day in Freeport, Texas.

CBS news reported that she has a stage four Wilms' tumour wrapped around her aorta, went into remission but the cancer spread to her lungs.

"I promise to protect and to serve", the six-year-old pledged in a room filled with police officers and supporters.
