Politics Editor: Sunday Times

Arena Holdings is a news and entertainment content provider and one of Africa’s largest English-language news publishers. The Sunday Times is SA's biggest Sunday newspaper which features latest news from SA, World, Politics, Entertainment and Lifestyle. Sunday Times is seeking a talented and dedicated Politics Editor to drive Sunday Times’s political coverage.
Main Responsibilities
- To drive the political coverage strategy for all Sunday Times platforms
- To lead, guide and mentor a team of reporters to produce quality, insightful content in line with the Sunday Times growth strategy
- To work closely with other section editors to enhance the quality of coverage on the political economy
- To produce engaging, relevant analysis and said leadership content for all Sunday Times platforms, including audio and video
- To cultivate networks to produce exclusive content and raise the profile of Sunday Times
Experience and Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a newsroom, including 5 years editorial management position
- A proven track record of excellent political journalism
- A relevant Journalism Degree is essential

- Strong insight into SA’s political landscape
- Excellent organisational skills
- Excellent research, communication, writing and editing skills
- Unimpeachable integrity
- Ability to work irregular hours
- Impeccable judgment and understanding of the SA press Code and relevant regulations
