President Jacob Zuma has arrived in France to attend the G20 summit, says the Presidency.
Spokesman Mac Maharaj said on Wednesday that Zuma was expected to discuss the potential of South Africa and Africa to contribute to global demand, opportunities for investing in infrastructure, and manufacturing and innovation.
Zuma would call for urgent measures to address food security and increased food prices.
"South Africa regards the G20 as presenting a meaningful opportunity for a coordinated response to the global economic crisis," Maharaj said in a statement.
Zuma, accompanied by Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan, would also meet business in a session organised by the French Chamber of Commerce.
The G20 summit ends on Friday.
