President Jacob Zuma attended the ZCC church's Easter service at Moria outside Polokwane in Limpopo on Sunday as a guest of honour, but would not be speaking at the event, said presidential spokesman Mac Maharaj.

"President Zuma was invited by the Bishop of the church as a guest of honour," said Maharaj.

"He was paying respects to the ZCC who number about 1.5million people and who come from all over South Africa and beyond Zimbabwe."

Zuma was accompanied by International Relations and Co-operation Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane and the acting premier of Limpopo province Dickson Masemola.

Embattled ANC Youth League president Julius Malema also attended the same service at the St Engenas church, the SABC reported.
