Eastern Cape ANC provincial chairman Phumulo Masualle had to flee a party meeting in Sterkstroom according to a report.

The crowd was baying for his blood, and pelted his black Mercedes-Benz ML as he fled according to The Daily Dispatch.

According to the report, Police spokeswoman Colonel Sibongile Soci said that ten people were arrested for the public violence after police were called in to clear a crowd of 1 000 people who were blockading the town.

Masualle was reportedly there to communicate a provincial ANC decision to dissolve the party’s Chris Hani regional executive committee (REC).

According to the report ANC branches throughout Queenstown are revolting against the provincial decision to disband the regional structures, as well as two sub-regions – Ngcobo and Sakhisizwe.

This hasn't changed the ANC's mind about the decision to dissolve the Chris Hani REC stands.
