A deal brokered between Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and opposition parties is off, Democratic Alliance Parliamentary leader Mmusi Maimane said on Monday.

"The deal is off because the ANC has affirmed that it doesn't want to part of that deal," he told reporters in Parktown following a meeting with Ramaphosa.

"But we [are] saying as opposition parties we affirm the spirit of the deal. We will stand up to accountability. We still stand up to maintaining all rules. We [are] saying they must be applied without prejudice," Maimane said.
