The Cape Town mayoral committee members for health and human settlements will swap positions, mayor Patricia de Lille said on Monday.

Councillor Benedicta Van Minnen would take up human settlements and councillor Siyabulela Mamkeli, health.

De Lille believed Van Minnen had a keen understanding of community needs and this would serve her well in the new portfolio.

"Councillor Mamkeli has also developed a detailed understanding of the social requirements needed to foster inclusiveness in his previous portfolio, making him an ideal contender for the health directorate."

De Lille said it was healthy to refresh leadership structures from time to time.
