DA applauds action against ghost teachers

The Democratic Alliance (DA) on Tuesday welcomed court action against ghost workers and said it was monitoring proceedings at the Port Elizabeth Commercial Crimes Court where Portia “Pankie” Sizani is accused of creating ghost teachers so she could pocket more than R1.2-million. In 2011 the education portfolio committee in the legislature was informed by the department of education that the alleged “Pankie Sizani-fraud” involved 99 ghost teachers.
