Parliament raised “serious concern” about media reports saying “union leadership and members are planning to carry out acts of violence and intimidation against management”. This comes as the “as the illegal strike by the National Education Health and Allied Workers Union (Nehawu) enters its fifth day”‚ a Parliament statement said. The statement reiterated the fact that a Labour Court interdict obtained on Wednesday barred “the union from protesting within the parliamentary precinct”.“Several notices have been issued to all staff urging them to stop their illegal action‚” it said.“Parliament urges the leadership and members of the Union to show respect for the law and abide by the court interdict. If the union is unhappy about the court decision the only legal route open to them is to go to court.“Instead of engaging constructively in discussion with management the union seems to have chosen to embark on unlawful acts which border on criminality.”..
