'Thank you‚ but no thank you' - two EFF members defect to DA

They took off their red caps‚ and put them‚ with their membership cards‚ into a courier box addressed to Julius Malema at his parliamentary address. The note included reads: “Thank you‚ but no thank you.”That’s how the Democratic Alliance (DA) described Thursday’s defection of “two senior North West EFF (Economic Freedom Fighters) members” to the official opposition party.The DA statement welcoming Romeo Matjila and Sam Makubane made no further reference to their seniority and summed them up only as “formerly EFF members in Potchefstroom… who have pledged to work hard to take the DA forward toward governing Tlokwe after the 2016 elections”.The party said they signed up because “they share in the values of Freedom‚ Fairness and Opportunity” and “realised that the EFF has strayed from its path”.According to them, "promises were made to the benefit of Julius and Floyd (Shivambu) and they forgot about the people"‚ referencing the EFF president and deputy president respectively...
