Des van Rooyen’s abortive tenure as finance minister was mocked in Parliament on Wednesday as mention of him during the Budget prompted jeers and laughter from MPs. By contrast his predecessor in the finance portfolio‚ Nhlanhla Nene‚ received prolonged applause.
