Just logo away‚ appeal court tells ANC in Cape Town branding row

The opposition African National Congress (ANC) has once again lost its “logo case” against the City of Cape Town after its bid to have the matter heard by the Supreme Court of Appeal was dismissed. The ANC took issue with the city's move to change its logo and pay-off line in 2014‚ accusing it of not doing proper public participation on the matter. It took the city council to court‚ arguing that it had spent R300 000 on the design and would spend more than R8-million on rebranding with the new logo.Mayor Patricia De Lille issued a statement on Tuesday celebrating her administration's win over the ANC.“It is with a great sense of vindication that we have learned that the ANC’s application for leave to appeal to the Supreme Court of Appeal in the City of Cape Town logo matter was dismissed yesterday‚ with all costs against the ANC national office‚" she said. She said the ANC did not understand the concept of having a “progressive vision for the city”‚ something she said was evident during the court challenge and the local government elections campaign.“The city will now pursue payment from Luthuli House‚” she said. – TMG Digital/The Times ..
