Eskom CEO says son’s arrest at UCT will ‘spark intellectual debate’

I was a student activist too‚" he said outside the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court.Eight students were released on bail of R1000 each‚ and one on R800.Money was also made available from a Rhodes Must Fall crowd-funding campaign‚ with appeals made on social media on Wednesday night after the arrests.The matter was postponed to March 30.Molefe said his son’s arrest "builds character" and that it would "spark intellectual debate".Jubilant students sang and danced outside the court.Earlier‚ frightened students gathered outside the courtroom to await their peers."I was suspended since 7am‚" said one.She said she has been in hiding because private security guards were asking around for her on campus since after the protest."I had to walk around in disguise and change my clothes at the Jammie shuttle‚" she said.At the same time‚ two other students who were arrested on campus last year in November had their trial postponed to April 20.Mahlomola Maroba and Seabreeze Madadasi were arrested for malicious damage to property after last year’s student protests...
