Deputy Minister of Agriculture‚ Forestry and Fisheries Bheki Cele has been discharged from hospital‚ where he was taken as a precautionary measure after being involved in an accident on Tuesday afternoon.
His spokesperson‚ Nonkululeko Mbatha‚ said he sustained no injuries.
The Deputy Minister was on his way to a media engagement in downtown Johannesburg when the accident occurred.
Accompanied by his security personnel‚ Cele was on the M1 south when a vehicle rammed into the black BMW X5 that he had been in.
Mbatha said the driver of the vehicle that drove into the X5 transporting Cele was not part of his security detail.
Twitter wits had attempted to pin the accident on a policeman driving into the former police commissioner.
