State capture inquiry 'will continue' if Dlamini-Zuma wins: ANC MP

ANC MP Mondli Gungubele believes that a parliamentary inquiry into state capture will continue if Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma becomes president of the party.

Dlamini-Zuma has been accused of being a proxy for President Jacob Zuma‚ who has faced allegations that he used his position to favour the Gupta family's business empire.

Gungubele came out in support of presidential hopeful Cyril Ramaphosa‚ but also praised Dlamini-Zuma.

Asked if the parliamentary inquiry into state capture at Eskom will continue if Dlamini-Zuma gets elected as president of the party‚ he said: “I would be surprised if it did not continue. I have a lot of respect for her. I have worked with her. I would not expect her to not continue with it.”

Ramaphosa and Dlamini-Zuma have each accepted their nomination as candidates to become ANC president. The ANC is currently in the process of electing new leaders in Nasrec‚ Johannesburg.

“Cyril is a task master. Every major task that was given to him‚ not a single one he has never concluded. He was picked out of Soweto to establish the NUM (National Union of Mineworkers)‚” Gungubele said on Radio 702 on Monday.

“He talks less and does much. This is the time we need Cyril.”
