Nhlanhla Nene‚ fired as finance minister by President Jacob Zuma in December 2015‚ is the new Eskom chair.

Nene was controversially fired from the Treasury to make way for Des van Rooyen‚ who was quickly replaced by Pravin Gordhan after an outcry.

Eskom has been at the heart of state capture allegations and Nene's appointment as board chairman was heavily linked on Saturday to the election of Cyril Ramaphosa as ANC president.

This is a developing story
