It's not a South African political scandal until it's accompanied by banter and humour. Making light of a serious situation, the public's response to the recent Gigaba controversies have been riddled with jokes.

Earlier this month, Gigaba disclosed that a sex tape featuring him had been leaked.

In a series of tweets, Gigaba claimed that he had been subjected to blackmail and extortion because of the tape.

Gigaba further revealed that he was the only person in the tape. That was followed by a stream of headlines and tweets filled with puns.

Days after the sex tape saga, Gigaba made headlines for after billionaire Nicky Oppenheimer claimed that the minister had lied in Parliament about his dealings with the family.

A series of controversies followed Gigaba weeks after the sex tape. From the Fireblade saga, his legal war with radio personality Redi Tlhabi and the Public Protector's findings.

In the findings, President Cyril Ramaphosa was given 20 days to take disciplinary action against Gigaba. On November 13, Gigaba submitted his resignation.

From hand jokes to an 'in your mouth' challenge, Twitter was ready.

We gon' be alright?

The phrase "imagine this in your mouth" was derived from the the former minister's leaked video and Twitter just  ran with it.
