Eskom chairman Jabu Mabuza returned to the Zondo commission this week, detailing the alleged corrupt activities that have marred the power utility.

From executives working with Gupta associates, leaked documents to more state capture, here is what Mabuza revealed during his testimony.

The Gupta associates and Eskom's legal boss

During his testimony on Monday, Mabuza highlighted apparent emails between Eskom legal boss Suzanne Daniels and Oakbay Investment's then-CEO Nazeem Howa.

Daniels' computer allegedly had emails between her and Gupta business associate Salim Essa to formulate coal agreements and draft media statements.

Procurement at Eskom

Mabuza told the commission that state capture at the power utility manifested through procurement processes.

"What we see and what we call 'corruption' is what happens in the procurement of goods and services in the public sector. The real incidents are what happens in the procurement, and we have come to see it in a number of manifestations at Eskom," Mabuza said.

Leaked emails

Mabuza detailed how former acting Eskom boss Matshela Koko allegedly leaked important information on internal programmes to Gupta associate Salim Essa.

Mabuza said Eskom approached the court to get access to Koko's computers, and emails between him and Essa were found.

Koko forwarded an email to Essa which contained a response from National Treasury directing public entities on how to contain their costs. Other emails between the two included documents pertaining to Eskom's top engineers programme.
