Former Sars commissioner Tom Moyane is applying for leave to cross-examine minister of public enterprises Pravin Gordhan at the state capture inquiry on Wednesday.

The inquiry heard on Tuesday how the Gupta family and their business associates set up a string of companies that scored huge contracts with parastatals such as Eskom and Transnet, and moved money between them to disguise its source.

Testifying before the commission, Standard Bank’s former head of compliance Ian Sinton detailed a list of transactions since 2014 taken from the accounts of Gupta-linked businesses like Homix, Cutting Edge Commerce, Bapu Trading, Chivita and Regiments Capital.

On Wednesday, the inquiry will continue to hear Eskom-related testimony. Former business rescue practitioner of the Optimum coal mine Piers Marsden is expected to testify and former director-general of the department of mineral resources Dr Thibedi Ramontja is on the Zondo commission's roll as well.
