Former SABC chief operating officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng is planning to launch the "best manifesto SA has ever seen" - but some social media users say he is off to a bad start by addressing his followers from under a tree.

Perhaps he was trying to emulate that other famous philosopher, Hippocrates, who famously and successfully used a plane tree as a classroom for his medical students.

Whatever, the president of the African Content Movement chose to promote  his party manifesto launch that will take place on April 6 while peering out from dense foilage.

"South Africa, this is the time for our future," he says in the video, before promising an "action manifesto, an implementation manifesto".

"We are not talking about the words, we are talking about action, we are talking about implementation. What I know in my life is only action and implementation, vision and plan. I have a plan for this country, to turn around the lives of our people."

Social media was filled with reaction to the video, with many questioning why Motsoeneng had chosen to make his pledges under a random tree.
