Blast from the past: Kallis and Smith score tons against Pakistan in Lahore

1997 — Shaun Bartlett scores in the 40th minute to give Bafana Bafana a 1-0 lead in a friendly against France in Lens, but the hosts reply twice in the second half through Stephane Guivarc’h and Ibrahim Ba to secure victory.

2003 — The Springboks score their biggest margin of victory in a Rugby World Cup match as they trounce Uruguay 72-6 in Perth. Captain Joost van der Westhuizen scored three of South Africa’s 12 tries to become the top try-scorer for the country in Tests, beating James Small’s 20. The 66-point win remained South Africa’s largest in the tournament until the 2015 edition, when they beat Namibia 87-0.

2003 — Patrick Mayo scores the winner with three minute remaining as Bafana Bafana beat Costa Rica 2-1 in a Nelson Mandela Challenge match in Potchefstroom. Siyabonga Nomvete put South Africa ahead before the visitors equalised through an own goal by Aaron Mokoena.

2007 — Graeme Smith and Jacques Kallis score centuries for South Africa in the second innings of the final second Test against Pakistan in Lahore. Smith, resuming on 75, made 133 and Kallis, 37 overnight, 107 not out. 

2008 — Siphiwe Tshabalala scores early to give Bafana Bafana a 1-0 win over Equatorial Guinea in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Malabo.

2013 — Tokelo Rantie scores as Bafana Bafana draw their friendly 1-1 against Morocco in Agadir.

2014 — Bongani Ndulula and Tokelo Rantie score in the space of four minutes as Bafana Bafana beat Congo 2-0 in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Pointe-Noir.

2015 — AB de Villiers scores 104 off 73 balls as the Proteas beat India by five runs in the first ODI in Kanpur. Chasing 304 for victory, India needed 11 off the final over to win the match. But Kagiso Rabada conceded just five runs and took two wickets, including the crucial scalp of captain MS Dhoni, to clinch the match for the visitors.

2016 — Ayanda Patosi scores in the second half to give Bafana Bafana a 1-1 draw against Ghana in a friendly in Durban.

2016 — Mignon du Preez scores 80 as the South African women, needing 223 to win, beat New Zealand by four wickets in the second ODI in Kimberley to level the seven-match series 1-1.

2019 — Laura Wolvaardt top-scores with 69 to lift the South African women to 247/6, but they lose the second ODI against India in Vadodara by five wickets.

2020 — Bafana Bafana blow a 1-0 lead against Zambia at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium as they lose this friendly 2-1. Keagan Dolly put the hosts ahead in the 66th minute, but Kelvin Kampamba struck back in the 78th minute and Chaniza Zulu four minutes after that to steal the victory. 

2022 — Heinrich Klaasen’s 34 is the highest score as the Proteas are bowled out for 99 in the final third ODI against India in Delhi. The home side won by seven wickets to take the series 2-1.
