Former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs midfielder John ‘Shoes’ Moshoeu has been discharged from hospital.

After spending close to a month on a bed at Johannesburg’s Charlotte Maxeke Hospital, KickOff revealed on Friday that the 1996 Afcon-winning player is now back at home.

The soccer magazine reports that it got hold of the mother of the 49 year-old, Reena Moshoeu, who relayed the news of his discharge but declined to comment further because of the malicious rumours that circulated on social media claiming that Moshoeu was dead.

“I have never felt so much pain because of what was said to me,” she tells this website.

“We are good people. My son is a good person and he is not a rapist, he is not a thief and he is not a killer. He is a gentle soul who treats people well, but someone decided to call me to tell me that my son was dead. As a family, there is nothing that we are going to say and we have left everything in God’s hands,” she adds.
