Kaizer Chiefs have refused to neither confirm nor deny a report that the club has fined three of its players for posing for a picture with DJ Sbu and his controversial energy drink – Mofaya.

“The club does not have any comment on this matter,” Chiefs communications manager Vina Maphosa told Times LIVE on Thursday.

This came after a report in KickOff on Wednesday that that three Chiefs players have been fined by the club for posing for a picture with DJ Sbu and his energy drink - which came under the spotlight earlier this year after it was discovered that the energy drink was not approved by the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS).

Morgan Gould, Siboniso Gaxa and Tsepo Masilela were seen in a picture, which went viral on social media, wearing shorts with club colours as well as Mofaya t-shirts.

The energy drink is owned by popular DJ and businessman Sibusiso Leope.

According to KickOff, the image did not go down well with Amakhosi's management.
