Content Malesela puts his feet up after fairytale Chippa United season

Chippa United coach Dan Malesela says he has relished his first season in the Premier Soccer League after taking a long time to finally land a job with a top flight team. “It was enjoyable. Yes there was pressure‚ I admit‚ to winning games and to get to the top eight. But it was more about enjoying what we were doing. It is a great feeling to see what you work on in training being implemented on the field.”Malesela‚ now relaxing at home in Pretoria before beginning next season's preparations later this month‚ says he had hoped to have joined a top flight club long before he finally got the Chippa job in December and had actually begun to despair that the chance would not come around. But the former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns defender is now much sought after following an inaugural six months in charge of the Eastern Cape team which ended with Chippa finishing in sixth place in the PSL standings – the club’s best-ever return.“I’ve tried to keep it all simple and not get too fancy‚’ said Malesela‚ as he explained the reasons for his successful start.“If things are not possible in a football match‚ then I don’t train them. I don’t do things that are not related to football. "There are other coaches who do fancy exercises and have the ground decorated with all sorts of markers before the game but for me it is important only to do things that are relevant to football‚” he told TMG Digital.“I think we also produced a unique brand of football.”Chippa are due to return for pre-season training on June 28‚ which is almost two months from the start of the season and their participation in the MTN8 for the very first time. - TMG Digital..
