Orlando Pirates have beaten a number of PSL clubs to get the signature of in-demand Polokwane City and Bafana Bafana winger Oswin Appollis.

Appollis joins eight other new signings by Pirates — Tshepang Moremi (AmaZulu FC), Sihle Nduli (Stellenbosch FC), Sinoxolo Kwayiba (Chippa United), Tshepo Mashiloane (Baroka FC), Masindi Nemtajela (Marumo Gallants), Sipho Mbule (Mamelodi Sundowns) Nkosikhona Ndaba and Yanela Mbuthuma (Richards Bay FC).

Appollis' signature has been among the most sought-after in the Betway Premiership with many linking him with a possible move to Pirates' Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs over the past few months.

Pirates tweeted on Wednesday they have signed the winger but didn't disclose the figure or the duration of the contract.

Appollis will link up with a new coach at Pirates, Abdeslam Ouaddou from Morocco, who replaced Jose Riveiro who left Pirates to join Egyptian giants Al Ahly at the end of last season.

Pirates will do their preseason in Spain where they'll play a number of matches before opening the season with an MTN8 quarterfinal tie against Appollis' former team in the first week of August.
